Back in 2005 I wrote a blog post for the very first time. I didn't know what to write, so I made it simple. It had a picture of Elvis; visit it HERE. I'm going to preserve it in that spot for my own historical perspective, or least to help map how long my blogging madness has run. The other posts that reside ther - only the worthy ones really - will be transferred here to ClarkBlog.net one by one and labeled "From The Vault." There are only a handful; one you've already seen, about our cat Salvador. One of them is so short that I'll probably turn it into a Tweet instead.
Today's Vaultastic Post is from February 2006. I was working at Pro-Tech Services in Mukilteo, a company that has since been sold then merged into Philips Healthcare; it is now only months away from relocating the Mukilteo operations to Pittsburgh PA. The job I did at the time was not well defined. My boss was told that I was now his employee an entire day before I started. I was coming off a roll in the company that was nearly impossible to do. There was a lot of stress, primarily because I was forever looking over my shoulder and expecting to get walking papers at any moment (I eventually got laid off in November of 2007). The photo below was taken with my Palm Treo 650 from the second floor, overlooking a rainy parking lot at 7am. The weight of working there - coupled with the nastiness of the weather outside - got my head turning enough to post this, my second blog post ever.
===================================
Today it's raining in the Seattle area. And do you know what that means?
- Despite the fact that it rained a couple days ago, someone will forget how to drive on slick roads.
- Someone - out to show the world that "know what they're doing" - will drive too fast for conditions and rear-end another car that was driving too slow for conditions.
- A high schooler driving Mom's minivan will come close to a curb, go through a puddle, and splash a group of unsuspecting middle-school kids.
- A 12 year old - riding a BMX bike - will arrive at his friends house with a wet streak of tire grime up his back.
- A bored Tweener will be stuck inside for yet another rainy Seattle day, and will begin nurturing a career as a rock musician or a professional video gamer.
- Someone wearing glasses will get a raindrop on the inside of their lens.
- 90% of all motorcycles in the region will be parked inside until the rain stops.
- Traffic in Lynnwood will continue to be crummy.
- Someone who has lived in the region their entire life will come to the realization that they hate drizzly daily rain and want to be as far away from it as possible, thereby forming an idea about moving to Nevada, Arizona or New Mexico.
- A 4-year old will enjoy an afternoon in the backyard, playing under the water spout and splashing through the muddy puddles in Mom's garden.
- A lawn will get greener, and longer.
- The toilet paper hung high in the front yard's Douglas Fir will finally wash away.
- A store clerk will tell someone, "Stay dry out there."
And many more!
