Running - That Darned Foot

Yeah...my feet feel like that

How do I write a blog post about something like this? It's important to let it out, because the issue that stopped my bid for weight loss cold in its tracks. But at the same time I don't want it to sound like I'm whining. It's tough to be tough, especially when your pinky toe feels like a full-sized open nerve.

Yep...my left pinky toe is revolting.

It seems that I've hurt it somehow, either with friction or the pressure of the shoe, and now it's split open along the nail. To put it bluntly, it hurts like a mother. I've treated it with medicine as I should, but it's not getting better. Darned foot. Am I running? Not since last week. Heck, I can barely walk without pain. I go to the doctor tomorrow morning before work.

Of course, I can't get out of walking completely. I still need to walk into my building, and parking for the truck is out there. So I hobble. Slowly, like a Civil War vet with one foot. Focused, with the determination to make it from my cubicle to the coffee machine with as little effort as possible. And when I'm back in my chair, I can release a giant "Ahhhhhh" knowing that I don't have to do that again for a while.

Both feet have been giving me some trouble now for a couple weeks; considering I've been walking at some length nearly every day since middle August, it's not bad that I'm having trouble with them only now. Here's to quick recovery and some more road work, hopefully in a week!
