Elfie and The Birthday Party

The Clarks had friends and neighbors over to mark my birthday on Saturday the 24th. All week we had been watching the weather reports, and during that week we watched the Saturday forecast change from great to icky to not-so-icky and then to raining. Imagine my surprise when I got up at 5am on Saturday to see clear skies and three-quarters of a moon out the window!

The weather turned out to be awesome. With our War Zone backyard weedwacked the BBQ was fired up and the chairs were layed out. But before anyone could partake they got the opportunity to have their picture taken with Elfie our new family room guard, who arrived to our house by way of Chicago, Indiana, Mercer Island, and then CraigsList. He was a long-time companion to a family whose children all grew up and moved away. His pals Snakee and Koala came with the deal as well. Elfie's well loved, well traveled, and if he could talk he would say, "please put more stuffing in me so my neck will work right."
As I look out the window this morning to see the clouds on their trek across the sky, I'm thankful the sun made its way into our lives for even 24 hours so we could see friends, family, and introduce them all to Elfie!
