Knit Nightmares - Reeling In The Style

"Fisherman Dress?" Did a search on the term and really didn't find any history that would qualify the name. Maybe it's a term - now in the public domain - that can be thrown at any garment make without pants. Sweet...

This picture reminds me of my best friend's Mom when I was in the third grade. The blond in her hair did not exist in nature. Hair style's about right, only hers was bigger. She wore clothes like this, but since we all lived in the country she also drove a big pickup truck. The picture also cultivates visions of Friday-night adult fondue parties, when the grown-ups would break out the avocado green dinner ware and argue about Nixon or McGovern. All the kids were herded to the unsupervised unfinished basement to watch Brady Bunch on the console TV inherited from Grandpa's estate. Parents would ply them with oven-roasted weenie snacks, Pringles and Tang. When they were finally allowed to come back upstairs at 10pm (a real treat staying up late!), the dining room would be layered in haze while smelling like Seagrams and Marlboro Reds.

Maybe it should be called Fondue Dress instead...
