New Kitty - Welcome to Butterfly

"Iz gets pets later when me earz is ponted up agin"
We just couldn't resist...

After Crystal went missing before Halloween, we decided maybe it was time to take a break from pets anyway. But as the weeks went on, Grandma Jan got lonely for kitty company and we started finding evidence of rodents around our yard waste bins. I can only think of one animal that can handle both of those issues!

Our latest little buddy came to us from the King County Animal Control Office in Bellevue. We originally went to look at a specific declawed kitty, but when that one turned out to have zero personality we decided to check in with the kitty that had meowed at us from the moment we walked in - Butterfly. She was picked up as a stray in Bellevue, had already been fixed, and is a huge fan of petting. Butterfly appears to be equal parts Siamese and Himalayan; she croaks instead of meowing, a trait she shares with our beloved part-Siamese cat Mollie who died a few years back. Getting her home wasn't easy; we picked her out the Saturday after Christmas, but were finally able to bring her home on Wednesday 1/7! In between those days were several trips for her back and forth between Bellevue and Kent shelters, plus some downtime with a bad Kitty Cold.

Once she acclimated to the house she latched on to David, which is good because he picked her out, and spent most of the afternoon hanging out with him watching cartoons yesterday. She even tried to snag his corndog - which earned her the nickname "ButterCorn." Butterfly also spent a lot of yesterday with Grandma too, getting pets and sleeping.

The above picture is the only way I could get a shot of her, with David holding onto her, because she would come over and ram the camera every time I would bring it out (thrill to the beautiful blown-on popcorn ceiling material in the background of the shot). She's very social even it she is still a bit skittish around the household.

So welcome to the Clarks, Butterfly...we're glad you're here!
