Hash Things - The Clark Family Snack

The humble beginnings of this snack are probably lost to the ages, but in my lifetime there have always been Hash Things. My mom would make them on Sunday nights after church for as long as I can recall, since we needed something simple to munch on after a day's worth of church services. I'm sure there are other names for this food, but Hash Things sort of embodies the uncertainty and cobbletogetherness of a snack that can be made with little more than a few bucks. I made the name up...what can I say?

The ingredients are easy:
  • One 6-pack of English Muffins, with each one split in two
  • One can of Roast Beef Hash (Corn Beef Hash as substitute, but my family doesn't like it)
  • Eight Kraft American Singles (nothing melts like the Kraft product...seriously)
Preparation:
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • Spray cookie sheet with PAM
  • Lay out the split English Muffins on the sheet
  • Spread Roast Beef Hash on each one with a spoon
  • Split each cheese single into three pieces and criss cross two pieces on top of each hash thing
  • Cook for 20 minutes, until cheese started to turn brown
  • Let cool for 5 minutes
They will be hot so watch the roof of your mouth! If you want a free PDF of the recipe, you can find it HERE.

Enjoy!
