This year we're thankful for so much, both professionally and personally:
- I'm working for a secure company, even in this tough economy
- Sherry is really enjoying her opportunities to do music
- Our family is healthy
- We have a roof
- Our truck and motorcycle are paid for
- David is excelling in a few subjects in the First Grade, including math (a marked weakness of mine)
- Jack is on his way towards a second prosthetic, and is showing much more interest in walking now
- Our faith is stronger, as we have found God's word and wisdom to be not only amazing but dead-on when a need arises. It's true: "Let Go, Let God."
The words to If I Can Dream - written by Walter Earl Brown and made famous by Elvis - really speak to the sense of hope I have for the future today, tempered by faith and buoyed by family:
There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true
There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear
Were lost in a cloud
With too much rain
Were trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly
Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah
May your Thanksgiving be special, warm, and light-hearted!
