For over a year, I've wanted to get this shot.
Train watching takes us over the Airport Way overpass often. The view of downtown Seattle from this point, while very industrial, is definitely a sight to see. The towers loom above the mostly one and two-story buildings in SODO; at night, the lights make it all even more stunning. Just talking about it here makes me want to go there later...
Last Wednesday I had the day off, so after a dental appointment in the morning I headed over to Seattle for coffee, Krispy Kreme coffee cake, and some photography - in that order. This meant that since I was shooting lone gun I could take the opportunity and walk out on the overpass to get the shot I've wanted all this time. I shot both digital and film, using my old Vivitar with Kodak Ektar 100 color film, which has simply blown me away with its clarity, control, and color. I don't know all the pro terms in photography, but for me this stuff just works great. Got the prints back today, and I really like what a I see. But the photo you see here was made from two separate digital shots from friend Roger's Canon PowerShot SD600 camera. I stitched the two photos together in a vertical panorama, one on top of the other; I've noticed that this kind of editing makes the top image look more dramatic for some reason. Guess it worked...
After I edited, the first thing that popped out at me was Super Cloud above it all. I didn't really notice it at the time, but I sure notice it now. Look for the film shots online soon; they'll be posted at my Rusty Camera blog!
