Being a visual person, I love looking through photos of people and places - especially archival stuff like the City of Seattle posts on the Internet. And when I can compare the old to a current-day shot? Love it. That can be some fun detective work.
Sherry's parents shot slides while Grandpa Jack was stationed with the Navy in New York City between 1965 and 1967. Not only do we still have all the slides from that and other times, but also the camera used for a lot of the photos. Thanks to my Dad's slide scanner, I'm able to go through these archives and bring out stuff that is just plain cool to look at. With it, I'm learning more about New York and - despite that the photos are well over 40 years old - I'm getting a feel for the geography much more. I've never been there, so this is a cool subject for me.
I continue to add slides to the gallery when I have time to scan and crop. Check out the slide show below. If you don't see it, click HERE to view slide show directly on Flickr!
