Foo Photo - Ballard at 65th Then and Now

65 years can make a huge difference on the landscape...unless you're in Ballard. Check out the photo above, taken in 1944, and compare to the Google "Street View" shot from last year. Amazingly little difference considering the time span between the shots.

Back in the day, this intersection was part of my commute home to Shoreline from the base of Queen Anne Hill. At the time it was a lot easier to just get on 3rd Avenue NW and head north, even though you hit a lot of traffic lights, than it was to take Aurora Ave N heading the same direction. That was 20+ years ago; I can imagine it's even worse now!
