What better way to burn off some energy than to load up some bikes and head for the dirt? Thankfully there are still some places left in our area where you can do just that. St. Edward State Park - plus the neighboring Big Finn Hill County Park - is a place where bikes rule the forest. Granted, this isn't hard-core mountain biking, but it's fun and it's accessible.David and Jaelin are a perfect pair on their bikes. For our trip to Big Finn David rode his Univega Hornet BMX, which has been retrofitted with old-school gold anodized handle bars, 16" wheels, and shorter cranks until he's tall enough for the original equipment. Jaelin rode a 20" boys bike I had hanging around, so we could keep her bike clean. Both kids rode like champs and enjoyed the trails immensely. Jaelin wiped out on her way down a hill (see video below) but gave two thumbs up and hit the trail again!
David hit the hill a bunch of times and loved going over the little mounds at the end.
They have both asked to go back again...which we will for sure!
