Foo Photo - "No, The Red Phone..."

Since every call in our house is important, we decided that we needed an important phone in our kitchen to match. The previous late-80s Sony wall phone was working fine, but had zero character. Plus Grandma Jan hated the buttons. Sherry and David quote red as their favorite color, and most of our appliances are red. So why not a red phone? Better yet, how about a red phone from the 1960s?? Now that is groovy in a far out way...

This retro-looking monster is actually brand spanking new, and a mere $35 on eBay. It even has a mechanical dingy dingy bell inside that rings like it's 1969. Each time it rings I'm five years old all over again!

On a side note, we have a circa-1982 rotary phone upstairs (remember those?) that will wake the dead with its ringer. Sure, I can't "Press One for Customer Service" from the rotary-saurus, but it sure has great sound quality. Plus it was $2.00 at a swap meet ten years ago, when you could barely give them away! Sherry laughed at me then, but now she likes it. I've taught David how to dial one, because I figure there's at least a few useless facts he'll need in 2060...

Enjoy! KDC
